The idea is to follow these steps:
- From the 1.6 shop I would export product URLs.
- Then, I would upgrade from 1.6 to 1.7 (I have done this before with good results). This is made on a test server.
- I would install Pretty/Clean URLs plugin.
- Then, I would export 1.7 product URLs. So, I have a CSV with a column for 1.6 product URLs and another column with 1.7 product URLs Pretty/Clean URLs plugin processed.
- After, I would install your SEO Redirects plugin and I would feed it with te CSV. The shop uses several languages, so I would need to configure Regular Expressions for redirections. What do you think about? Thank you for your assitance
PrestaShop expert answer about moving products from old prestashop to new
Hello,If you will use pretty clean urls
I think that if you will import products from your old shop with option "force the id numbers" during import process (all products will have the same ID as in old prestashop) it will be enough to use Pretty Clean Urls module only. It has auto redirection from url with ID to url without ID (It does not matter that new ps 1.7 has also id_attribute in url, redirection will work fine). So in this case all old urls of products will redirect to proper pages without ID with 301 redirection. So in my opinion this is the best solution.
The process you described is also fine, it is a little more complicated (more steps to follow). In this case you also do not have to use pretty clean urls, just seo redirects module only.
The advantage of process you described is fact that you can use it when ID of products in new shop will not match to the ID of products from old store.
So, let's say that you:
- you want to use pretty clean urls (to have urls without ID in your shop)
- it is enough to import products with "force id numbers" option - you want to use pretty clean urls and your products will not have IDs from old shop
- it will be required to create redirections form old urls to new urls with "seo redirect module" - you do not want to use pretty clean urls
- it will be required to create redirections form old urls to new urls with "seo redirect module"
best regards,
milos
