PrestaShop enables you to give your customers certain privileges, by assigning them to groups. You can create as many customer groups as needed, and assign a customer to as many groups as you like.
To do this, click on Customer Settings in the Shop Parameters menu. You can then see 3 tabs, one of which is the Groups tab.
By default, three groups are available:
Visitor.
Anybody without a customer account or who has not logged in.
Guest.
Anybody who has placed an express order through the Guest Checkout – this option needs to be enabled.
Customer.
Anybody who has created an account on your shop, and is logged in.
These three groups cannot be deleted. You can edit existing groups as well. And give them "group discount", change the way of how prices appears etc.. To create more groups, click on "Add new group" to bring up the creation form.
Name.
Use a short and descriptive name.
Discount (%).
The discount you want to set for the members of this group applies to all products in your shop. You may prefer to not set any discount value here, and instead create cart rules.
Price display method.
PrestaShop is frequently used in the Business to Business (B2B) sector. You can create a group of customers who can buy products without paying the tax. The dropdown list gives you a choice between "tax included" and "tax excluded".
Show prices.
By default, all users of your shop can view the prices. You may prefer some to not have access to your product prices. For instance, you could make it so users can only view prices if they have an account: from the groups list, click on the green checkmark in the "Show prices" column for the "Visitors" group to turn it into a red cross.
Once these settings are in place, you can save the group.
